Conservatories

A conservatory is a cost effective way of adding both space and value to your home, and with a extensive range of styles and options available we have a solution to suit every home and budget.

Whichever style you desire, be it a standard conservatory, orangery or the latest glazed extension or solid roof product, Silika will work with you to create the perfect space for you to enjoy all year round. You can rest assured, your new conservatory will be fully bespoke in its design, manufacture and installation.

Unlike other rooms in your home, there is no set use for a conservatory. For example, an orangery leading from a kitchen makes a fabulous dining room; a glass extension leading from a living room extends the area into a great family room and links your main living space with the garden. There are many more ways to utilise this exciting new space – the possibilities are endless.

We offer the widest range of conservatory products available, from the industry’s leading manufacturers – each having a range of unique features, enabling us to offer the best product to meet your requirements.

Key features include:

  • A cost effective way to add light and space to your home
  • A versatile addition to your property which can be used in a variety of ways
  • Can add significant value to your home
  • Most domestic conservatories are exempt from Building Regulations and planning permissions, meaning they can be installed with the minimum of fuss
  • Wide range of styles and options available providing a solution to suit every home and budget, with a choice of traditional or contemporary looks
  • High performance climate control glazing to keep you cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Choosing the correct glass for your conservatory roof, windows and doors is paramount in ensuring it offers year round comfort. Our range of high performance climate control double and triple glazing offers the broadest choice available, catering for all tastes and requirements, and has been developed with industry-leading manufacturers to ensure your conservatory can be used all year round – by helping to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. In fact, our triple glazed option is the best performing roof glass currently available on the market, achieving up to 84% solar heat reflection, an insulation U-value* as low as 0.7W/m²K and excellent light transmission. Key features of the range include:
    • Market-leading insulation values – with U-values of 1.0 W/m²K for double glazed and 0.7 W/m²K for triple glazed
    • Unparalleled solar control – up to 84% reflection achievable with triple glazing and 80% with double glazing
    • Self-cleaning properties as standard
    • Range of tints available including aqua, blue, bronze, neutral and satin privacy glass
  • In addition to standard white, we offer a wide range of high performance woodgrain and coloured laminates, together with the option of 100’s of RAL colours and the possibility to mix colours between the outside and inside
  • Wide choice of window and door styles available – including casement or vertical sliding windows, full height glazing, French or sliding doors – or why not open up the front of the conservatory by incorporating bi-folding doors
  • Ventilation options including roof vents – with either manual or electric openers. If you choose electric openers then thermostats and rain sensors will allow for automatic opening and closing
  • Variety of options to customise the exterior and interior including: crestings and finials; external cornice; lighting options; and fans
  • Ability to incorporate design features such as an internal plastered perimeter ceiling, which can incorporate downlighters and speakers; super insulated Loggia columns; a solid, highly insulated roof with a vaulted plastered ceiling (with or without roof windows) and a roof finish to match your home. The superior thermal qualities of these products mean internal separating doors can be removed to give your living space the open plan look (providing planning consent and Building Regulations compliance have been met), giving the overall feel of an extension for a fraction of the price

Conservatory Refurbishment

In addition to providing new conservatories, we offer a cost effective way to refurbish existing ones. First generation conservatories, many of which were built over fifteen years ago, can be transformed from a poorly performing glass box, to what could become the best room in the house. At the time the first generation conservatories were built they offered the best available technology, however, as with everything else in life, huge advancements have been made – A-rated windows, bi-folding doors, colour ranges and Loggia to name but a few.

There are many ways in which your existing conservatory can be revived, these include:

  • Replacing guttering – we even offer a cast iron effect gutter system
  • Incorporating cornice – this elaborate detailing adds height and presence, shrouding the gutter and roof glazing bar end caps, giving a clean, contemporary look
  • Upgrading to a high performance glass roof, available in a range of tints – as well as privacy glass, all offering climate control and self-cleaning properties as standard. As glass is around 2.5 times heavier than polycarbonate, many existing window and door frames aren’t up to the job of supporting a glass roof, we therefore incorporate bespoke structural frame support products in all polycarbonate roof replacements
  • Replacing the glass in your windows and doors to improve the thermal efficiency and comfort levels of your conservatory
  • Replacing your roof, windows and doors in order to benefit from new designs, colours and finishes, whilst retaining the existing conservatory base. When all of these elements are replaced, you have the opportunity to change the whole look of the conservatory. Choose from casement or vertical sliding windows, French or sliding doors – or even open up the front of the conservatory by incorporating bi-folding doors. In addition to standard white, we offer a wide range of high performance woodgrain and coloured laminates, together with the option of 100’s of RAL colours
  • Incorporating one or more of the following: an internal plastered perimeter ceiling, which can incorporate downlighters and speakers; super insulated Loggia columns; a solid, highly insulated roof with a vaulted plastered ceiling (with or without roof windows), and covered with tiles or slates externally. The superior thermal qualities of these products mean internal separating doors can be removed to give your living space the open plan look (providing planning consent and Building Regulations compliance have been met), giving the overall feel of an extension for a fraction of the price

* U-value is a measure of the insulation performance of a material, the lower the figure the higher it’s insulation performance
